In part 1 of this blog series, we explained the benefits of transitioning to natural deodorants, and some of the adjustments your body may require along the way.
In this post, we will provide you with tips for making the transition to a natural deodorant smoother, as well as a how-to-guide for using our deodorant.
Tips for a Smoother Transition
1. Give it time:
Allow your body a few weeks to adapt. The adjustment period varies for each person, so patience is key. Your body may need to detox and normalise its sweat and odour patterns, without the disruption from chemicals and anti-persperants.
The adjustment time frame can differ, however most people usually see any initial irritation settle after 1-2 weeks.
To ease your body into the change, we advise using up-to twice a week for the first week and three times in the second week.
2. Keep clean:
Regular showers and hygiene practices are crucial during this phase. Cleanse your underarms thoroughly to remove any toxins and bacteria, aiding in the adjustment process.
3. Consider detoxifying methods:
Some people opt for armpit detoxes using natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar or clay masks to help speed up the adjustment process by drawing out toxins. This is purely a personal choice but not essential.
4. Keep your end goal in mind and give your body a chance to catch up
Switching to natural deodorant is a personal choice that aligns with a desire for a more natural, eco-conscious lifestyle. While the adjustment phase might present temporary challenges, the long-term benefits for your health and the environment make the effort worthwhile.
How to Use Handmaid Natural Deodorants
To apply, hold applicator to the skin. While pressing against the skin, move the applicator in an upwards and downwards motion.
When applied correctly you won’t see product on your skin or clothes. A good way to ensure your product has been applied correctly, is to smell the skin for an obvious scent of the essential oils in your deodorant.
Even though you may not see the product, you can be confident in knowing you are protected for the day.
